Many high altitude opportunities await the alpinist in the Cordillera Blanca. In a three week trip it is possible to acclimatize and ascend 3 ,20,000 ft. peaks. The names conjure up dreams of the great peaks. Alpamayo, Huascaran, Huandoy, Quitaraju, Chopicalqui, and Nevado Pisco. We base our trips out of the Hostal Andino, the best hotel in Huaras. Trekking and exploring the valleys and passes for the first days of the trip keep us busy while we acclimatize and the culture of the Quechua people is fascinating. The most popular ascents are Nevado Pisco, Alpamayo, and Huascaran Sur.We also recommend several multi day trekking trips – The Yanganuco – Punta Union circuit and the Cordillera Huayhuash circuit.
